The Boss and the Piano Man are in a campaigning state of mind.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel are teaming up in New York City next month for their first-ever joint concert to raise dough for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, his campaign confirmed to E! News. The news was first reported by the Huffington Post.

The event will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom Oct. 16, a day after the Illinois senator concludes his final debate with GOP contender John McCain at Hofstra University in nearby Hempstead, N.Y.

According to a campaign spokesman, Obama himself plans to be at the show. Presumably his ticket will be a lot less than other concertgoers'.

Donors who want to see the "Born to Run" rocker take the stage with the "Big Shot" crooner are going to have to pony up big-time. Tickets start at $500, while "premiere seating" will cost $2,500 a pop and exclusive "lounge" seats will set fans back $10,000. No word if that includes a meeting with the candidate.

Long Island denizen Joel, 59, is fresh off another all-star pairing. He took the stage with Paul McCartney to play two Beatles songs at the final concert at Shea Stadium in July.

Springsteen, also 59, is no stranger to politics. The New Jersey native and his E Street Band, who were just tapped to play the Super Bowl halftime show, masterminded a series of all-star gigs in 2004 on behalf of then-Democratic contender John Kerry.

Springsteen and his band are also set to play this Saturday in Philadelphia in support of Obama.
