Bloom Already Off Rosie O'Donnell's View Apology

Rosie O'Donnell's latest bout of public bickering with View overlord den mother Barbara Walters may not have been launched to gain publicity for the former Queen of Nice's upcoming variety special, but it's certainly not hurting her column inches.

Hours after O'Donnell's video blog rebuttal of Walter's daytime remarks on their long-simmering feud, the comedian was at it again, revisiting the topic on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. (Watch the entire episode here.)

"I have a little post-traumatic stress disorder when I watch it. I get flashbacks like Vietnam vets," she said before moving, ever so fleetingly, into peacemaking mode.

Barbara Snaps Back at Rosie's Rant, Rosie Listens

Leave it to Rosie O'Donnell to get Barbara Walters' panties all up in a bunch—and for O'Donnell to respond with a video blog!

In the latest war of words between these two, Walters remarked on The View Thursday: "There are some people who have done this show and then for years feel they have to dump on it, maybe for publicity, and that not only hurts me, but I resent it."

Barbara tartly continued, with an assumed dig at the always outspoken Star Jones as well, "So if the shoe fits, lady—ladies—get on with your lives."

And then on her own blog, O'Donnell posted a video item titled "Lady," which shows the former talk show host making faces in response to Walters' remarks.

Election Reax: From Hasselbeck's New View to Madonna's Concert to Lohan's Blog

There really is a huge change in America: Elisabeth Hasselbeck just apparently said something relatively nice about Barack Obama.

Just a day after excoriating the Democratic senator for his association with the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright, The View's resident right-winger struck a conciliatory tone, calling Obama's ascendance a "victory for our country."

Asked by mother hen Barbara Walters how she was dealing with the landslide victory for the opposing team, Hasselbeck replied, "No one lost today, and God knows I fought hard on the other side.

"Today is a victory for this country," she acknowledged. "The first black president. The first black first lady. The first black family. I haven't felt this good."

Aside from the View crew, celebs ranging from Kanye West to Lindsay Lohan to Brad Pitt to Madonna also chimed in on the election results.

Do you even remember what television looked like before the Barack Obama-John McCain showdown? Neither do we. Thank heaven for Election Day and the conclusion of the longest-running media rivalry since Aniston vs. Jolie. (Maybe now Tim Gunn can reclaim his post as TV's most savvy and ubiquitous advocate for change?)

To celebrate, let's pause and reflect on the most entertaining media displays of this please-oh-please-let-it-finally-be-over campaign season. We voted for nine, and left the No. 10 spot open for your write-in:

View's Halloween: All the President's Women

The View ABC/STEVE FENN

It's politics as unusual for the ladies of The View.

The bickering cohosts managed to put aside their differences and show a little solidarity—for an hour, anyway—with each dressing up as a former president.

Whoopi Goldberg opted to go as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Joy Behar as Theodore Roosevelt, Sherri Shepherd as Abraham Lincoln as seen on the penny (a costume which can handily be given second life as a flat Earth), Elisabeth Hasselbeck as a jelly bean-toting Ronald Reagan, and Barbara Walters as George Washington ('cause the comedy's as wooden as his teeth?).

Now that's what you call trickle-down topicality. Your move, Today show.

The View Vents, People Watch—and the Top 10 Things to Know About This Week's TV Ratings

The "Hot Topics" just seem hotter this fall. So do the ratings.

So far this presidential season, ABC's The View is up 8 percent in viewers over last fall, the network said. Among Elisabeth Hasselbeck-aged young women, it's been the No. 1 daytime show four weeks running.

The View joins Saturday Night Live, David Letterman, The Rachel Maddow Show and Jon Stewart's The Daily Show as beneficiaries of the campaign—Sarah Palin, Barack Obama, related arguments and all.

Elsewhere, Lindsay Lohan is good for Ugly Betty—no, really—plus nine other lessons from the latest Nielsen rankings and stats:

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Warms Up for Sarah Palin

Away from all the opinionated cross talk at her day job, The View's Elisabeth Hasselbeck took center stage to rally the faithful at a Florida event for GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Were you moved? Annoyed? Wondering if Joy Behar was there? Sound off in the comments.

Then catch up on who else has been rocking the vote in our Hollywood Gets Political gallery.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Don't View Me Like Coulter

They may both lean to the right and share similar dye jobs, but that doesn't mean Elisabeth Hasselbeck wants to be lumped in with caustic conservative Ann Coulter.

On Friday's The View, Elisabeth found herself, as usual, on the defensive, when cohost Joy Behar began joking about how if John McCain loses the election, Sarah Palin will become blond and get a job on Fox News "because they're all blond over there...Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Elisabeth Hasselbeck."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Please don't put me in the same sentence as Ann Coulter, thank you very much," expressed a clearly disgusted Elisabeth.

Barbara Shrugs Off Star's "Hateful" Rant

Barbara Walters, Star Jones Rich Schmitt/ZumaPress.com; Nancy Kaszerman/ZumaPress.com

If Star Jones is looking for a fight, she better look elsewhere.

Barbara Walters is opting not to engage her former tag-team partner, even though Jones sounded off on her former View mates in a recent interview with Essence magazine, saying "those girls were hateful" when Jones exited the ABC gabfest in 2006.

"Barbara set me up," added Jones.

But in her response today, Walters kept things civil.

"Star had wonderful years with us on The View," Walters said. "And I think The View made Star a star."

OK, let's make that relatively civil.

Star Jones Gives Her View of Former Cohosts

Star Jones George Pimentel/WireImage.com

It's probably safe to say that Star Jones won't be dropping by for a friendly chat on The View anytime soon.

Jones, who departed from the talk show in 2006, doesn't hold anything back when it comes to dissing discussing her former cohosts in the November issue of Essence magazine.

"Those girls were hateful," Jones says, referring to Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Barbara Walters

Adding fuel to the fire, she insists, "Barbara set me up."

Ouch.

Then again, bashing Babs has sorta become a regular pastime for Jones.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Not Fox Hunting

Take a deep breath: Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the comely conservative voice on The View, is not headed to Fox News.

Although she's clashed repeatedly with her fellow Viewers over the presidential campaign and various social issues and was said to be "really unhappy" according to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times, the wife, mother and McCain supporter wants to let the public know she's not headed over to the fair and balanced confines of Fox.
